Vin Diesel Recants Oscar Prediction For Furious 7 After Viewing TC’s Newest Trailer
In case you missed it, last week action film superstar Vin Diesel claimed that his new movie Furious 7 (in theaters this Friday) will win a few academy awards. That was before he saw the trailer to Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, which is Tom “TC-to-me” Cruise’s newest entry in his own unexpectedly lengthy action franchise.
And so yesterday, in a bizarre turn of events, Diesel formally and sheepishly recanted his odd prediction, saying,
“I wanted to be excited. I really thought Furious 7 pushed the envelope and had the perfect mix of everything that makes for a killer flick and a critically acclaimed feature film.”
He then coolly stroked his chin while his eyes looked beyond the horizon, adding,
“And in another Oscar year, maybe it would have won.”
Returning to the moment, he excitedly asked,
“I mean, have you guys see Tom Cruise’s newest trailer? I can’t compete with that. No one can. Much respect.”
Never one to deflect praise, Cruise’s reaction to reporter’s barrage of questions regarding this incident was to simply smile his million dollar smile and say,
“What can I say? Vin knows movies.”
Wow, how humble is that? ❤

I would expect that comment from the ego inflated Cruise. Diesel has his emotions in this movie because of the death of his friend Paul Walker. I like the MI movies, despite Cruise.

Easy on the TC bashing, Noelle. He’s kinda my raison d’etre. Besides inspiring me to become a pilot, there was also a moment in pilot training when my confidence was shaken. Lucky for me, MI3 was playing the night before the fateful pass/fail check ride. Motivated me to quit @#$%ing around and fly. I wish I was kidding. 🙂

I’m really glad to know he’s done something decent with his life, even if not knowingly. Were you a Top Gun? I do like to fly- it’s always been my dream to go up in an F4. But I’m relegated to Cessnas. Luckily I have a friend who owns one so I can go up whenever I want. We all have those moments of questioning; you wouldn’t be any good if you didn’t. You just went up another story in my already high estimation.

The Air Force’s Top Gun school is called Weapons Instructor Course or WIC. I did not go. But two of my pilots over in Iraq (while I was a co-pilot) were WIC and pretty freakin’ impressive.
BTW…of course you have a friend with a plane. Who doesn’t? lol

What is it about Cruise—yep, got that Hollywood smile/dazzle, got that brash confidence, but there is also something punk-like about him–something Lt. Caffey-burr in your side unlikeable about him. He does put on some good shows, but he won’t ever be anything close to my raison d’etre. Rock’on Pete Deakon—each to their own. Drew
